Opening ceremony - Sunday the 25th

We attended the "Opening ceremony" which was hosted in the University. We were brought into a big room where they reveled what teams we would be competing against. We were anxious to find out what teams we would be going head to head with. After a long wait, we found out we were placed in a group with Carleton University of Canada, Rotterdam University and Southwest Missouri. We were seeded second overall among the 16 teams so we pretty happy and surprised. After the match ups we went onto a cocktail reception where there was lots of cultural foods, music and traditional pastimes. We mingled with the teams and talked to our competition ahead of today's event.

Competition day 1

Today we had our first presentation against Missouri and we won!!

Ok we'll go back to the start.. the bus picked us up from our hotel at 8:30, arriving at the university at 9:15. We weren't getting the case until 11:15 so it was a long and nervous wait. There was a hold-up with the starting times so we sat outside and took in the sun that we wouldn't be seeing for 4 hours. We finally got the case after a long and painful 2 hours. When we got the case we were quite confident with it, maybe a bit too confident...3 hours and 50 minutes in we were stressed and unsure how good our presentation was. TY, our ambassador came in to take us to the presentation room after the 4 hours and it was the most tense 2 minute walk of our lives.

Our motto was to be ourselves and let our personalities shine through. We got to the presentation room and were surprised by the amount of teams who had come to watch our presentation. Since we were last to present, a lot of the competition got to sit in. This added more pressure because we wanted to make our mark. Overall we thought the presentation went well and we got our point across. It was just a waiting game then for the results. We received good feedback and the moment had finally arrived..we won narrowly, 6-5.

We are delighted with the win but we still have a lot to learn and can't wait for tomorrow. We are currently relaxing in TY's house waiting to go out for dinner with the rest of the groups. Catch up with us tomorrow.

Adios
